The First Meeting of ILSF Machine Advisory Committee The construction of a synchrotron is an enterprise that requires international cooperation and very few countries are capable of carrying it out on their own. The synchtrotron community is an international community with no borders and the synchrotron scientists share their knowledge and expertise openly and freely. The ILSF project has enjoyed this support from the beginining, in particular the technical groups of ILSF were trained by Helmut Wiedemann whose two-volume book on the physics of accelerators is a well-known references in this field. The ILSF conceptual design was completed under the direct supervision of Dieter Einfeld, who has served as director or member of the design teams of various synchrotrons. Several other notable synchrotron scientists including Ernst Weirheter, Albin Wrülich, and Peter Forck have also advised ILSF for the completion of its conceptual design report, and various seminars have been conducted at IPM and ILSF with the participation of sychrotron scientists from around the world. The next step for ILSF is the detailed and final design of the synchrotron. This design should be approved by the international Machine Advisory Committee. The first session of this committee will be held on 7-9 June 2015 at IPM. The goal is to receive a final approval for the design of the lattice of ILSF magnets and advice on the optimization of the next stages of the detailed design of the ILSF synchrotron. The members of the ILSF technical groups will present their latest results and designs to the committee and will seek their advice on the next steps that should be taken. The members of ILSF's Machine Advisory Committee are: Dieter Einfeld from MAXLab IV in Lund, Sweden; Yannis Papaphilipou from CERN in Geneva; Liu Lin from the Brazilian Synchrotron Light Laboratory; Gwo Huei Luo for the National Synchrotron Radiation Research Center, Helmut Wiedemann emeritus professor of Stanford University; Albin Wrülich from Paul Scherrer Insitute in Switzerland; and Riccardo Bartolini from Diamond Light Source in Oxfordshire, UK.

نخستين گردهم‌آيي کارگروه مشاوران شتابگر چشمه‌ي نور ايران ساخت سنکروترون اقدامي‌ست که به انجام‌رساندنش نيازمند همکاري بين‌المللي‌ست و کم‌تر کشوري قادر است به‌تنهايي از عهده‌ي انجامش بربيايد. جامعه‌ي دانشگراني که درگير ساخت يا کاربرد سنکروترون هستند جامعه‌ئي جهاني‌ و بدون مرز است و دانشگران معمولاً در کار خود از راهنمايي و تجربه‌ي يک‌ديگر استفاده مي‌کنند. طرح چشمه‌ي نور ايران از آغاز کار از اين همکاري بهره‌مند شده است از جمله آموزش گروه‌هاي فني طرح با استفاده از دانش هلموت ويدمن ، استاد بازنشسته‌ي دانشگاه استنفورد، آغاز شد که دو جلد کتاب او در باره‌ي فيزيک شتابگر از کتاب‌هاي مرجع در اين زمينه است. طراحي اوليه نيز زير نظر مستقيم ديتر آين‌فلد و با راهنمايي‌هاي او به انجام رسيده که در ساخت چندين سنکروترون نقش داشته و مشاور چندين طرح ديگر نيز بوده است. از نظرات دانشگران برجسته‌ي ديگري مانند ارنست وايرتر، آلبين وروليش، و پتر فورک در طراحي اوليه استفاده شده است و دانشگران متعدد ديگر نيز به پژوهشگاه دانش‌هاي بنيادي آمده‌اند و سمينارهاي آموزشي برگزار کرده‌اند. گام بعدي در طرح چشمه‌ي نور ايران آماده‌کردن طراحي نهايي و تفصيلي‌ست. اين طراحي بايد به تصويب کميته‌ي مشاوران بين‌المللي طرح برسد. اولين گردهم‌آيي گروه مشاوران در زمينه‌ي شتابگر در روزهاي 17 تا 19 خرداد 1394 در پژوهشگاه دانش‌هاي بنيادي برگزار خواهد شد. هدف از برگزاري هم‌آيش تأييد نهايي طراحي شبکه‌ي مغناطيس‌هاي شتابگر چشمه‌ي نور ايران و استفاده از نظر داوران در بهينه‌کردن مراحل بعدي طراحي‌ست. در اين گردهم‌آيي اعضاي گروه‌هاي فني آخرين نتايج و طراحي‌هاي انجام‌شده را ارائه خواهند کرد و جوياي نظرات کميته‌ي مشورتي براي برداشتن گام‌هاي بعدي خواهند شد. اعضاي گروه‌مشورتي عبارتند از: ديتر آين‌فلد از آزمايشگاه مکس‌لب 4 در لوند سوئد، يانيس پاپافيليپو از آزمايشگاه سرن، ليو لين از آزمايشگاه نور سنکروترون برزيل، گوو هويي لوو از مرکز ملي پژوهش‌هاي تابس سنکروترون در تايوان، هلموت ويدمن استاد بازنشسسته‌ي دانشگاه استنفورد، آلبين وروليش از مؤسسه‌ي پل شرر در سوييس، و ريکاردو بارتوليني از چشمه‌ي نور دايموند در انگلستان.

طرح چشمه‌ی نور ایران در راستای پرورش تخصص‌های وابسته به فناوری شتاب‌گرها، کارگاه آموزشی دو روزه‌ای در زمینه‌ی سامانه‌های کنترلی و فناوری اطلاعات در شتاب‌گرها برگزار می‌نماید.
در این کارگاه پس از پیشینه‌ای بر شتاب‌دهنده‌ها با تکیه بر چشمه‌های نور سنکروترون به نقش سامانه‌های کنترلی و IT در مراحل گوناگون طراحی، راه‌اندازی، نگهداری و کاربری چنین آزمایشگاه‌های مقیاس بزرگی اشاره شده و برخی از راه‌کارهای نرم‌افزاری و سخت‌افزاری در راستای ایفای این نقش معرفی می‌گردد. در پایان در قالب نظری و عملی و به صورت ابتدایی شیوه‌ی کار با دو بسته‌ی نرم‌افزاری EPICS وControl System Studio آموزش داده می‌شود.
EPICS یا سامانه کنترل صنعتي و فيزيک تجربي مجموعه‌اي از ابزارها، کتاب‌خانه‌ها و برنامه‌هاي کاربردي نرم‌افزاري منبع‌باز است که در آزمايشگاه‌هاي علمي مقياس بزرگ گوناگون جهان برای برپایی «سامانه‌های کنترل گسترده‌ی بلادرنگ نرم» بهره برده می‌شود.

Control System Studio مجموعه‌ای از ابزارها بر مبنایECLIPSE است که از آن برای پایش و راهبری سیستم‌های کنترل بزرگ مقیاس بهره برده ‌می‌شود و مانند EPICS منبع‌باز بوده و دستاورد همکاری دانشگاه‌ها و موسسات پژوهشی گوناگون از سراسر جهان می‌باشد.

New Light on Science Tehran, Iran 9 February 2015 Two distinguished scientists from the Diamond Light Source are the guests of ILSF for a few days this February. Professor Harrison, Chief Executive Director has been Director General of the Institut Laue-Langevin neutron source in Grenoble, France since 2011. He graduated from Oxford University with a degree of DPhil in Chemistry. He was Founding Director of the Centre for Science at Extreme Conditions in 2001 before joining ILL in 2006 as Science Director. As an inorganic chemist and Professor of Solid State Chemistry at the University of Edinburgh, Professor Harrison personifies 30 years of scientific leadership. Professor Trevor Rayment joined Diamond as Director of Physical Sciences in 2008. He has also played an important part in Diamond's development over the past decade and more - including chairing the working groups responsible for the development of Diamond's first three spectroscopy research stations. As Professor of Physical Chemistry at the University of Birmingham, his research has been focused on development of novel techniques for studying interfaces and their application in nanoscience, solid-liquid interface of electrodes and biomolecular interactions at interfaces.

بهمن‌ماه امسال طرح چشمه‌ی نور ایران میزبان دو دانشگر برجسته از چشمه‌ی نور دایموند در آکسفوردشیر انگلستان است. اندرو هریسون رئیس هیئت مدیره‌ی چشمه‌ی نور دایموند، از سال ۲۰۱۱ میلادی مدیر کل چشمه‌ی نوترون مؤسسه‌ی لاؤه-لانژون در گرونوبل فرانسه بوده است. او دکترای خود در شیمی را از دانشگاه آکسفور گرفته و یکی از بنیان‌گذاران مرکر علوم شرایط حاد بوده است. هریسون استاد شیمی غیرآلی و شیمی حالت جامد در دانشگاه ادینبرو و نماینده‌ی ۳۰ سال تجربه‌ی مدیریت علمی‌ست. ترور رایمنت از سال ۲۰۰۸ مدیر بخش علوم فیزیکی دایموند بوده و استاد شیمی‌فیزیک در دانشگاه بیرمنگام است. پژوهش‌های او بر به‌بارآوردن روش‌های جدید برای شناخت مرزها و کاربردهای این دانش در علوم نانومتری، مرز مایع و جامد در الکترودها، و برهم‌کنش‌های زیست‌مولکولی در مرز بین مواد، متمرکز است. او در شکل‌گیری چشمه‌‌ی نور دایموند نیز نقش داشته و رئیس گروه‌های کاری مسئول ساخت سه‌ ایستگاه‌ پژوهشی طیف‌نمایی نخستین در دایموند بوده است.

The Joint Universities Accelerator School (JUAS) will hold two 5-week courses dealing with (1) Science and Physics of Accelerators, and (2) Accelerator Technology and Applications in the winter of 2015. The school is organized with the support of 15 major European universities, and the courses are taught by accelerator specialists from Europe. The enrollment fee for each course is 200 Euros for Master students, 600 Euros for PhD students, and 1500 Euros for professionals. The purpose of the Synchrotron Radiation School is to introduce and demonstrate advanced analytical methodologies based on X-ray spectrometry with application in the fields of Nano-Science and Environmental monitoring. The introduction of environment-friendly energy sources and the diagnosis, monitoring and understanding of environmental problems are issues of high concern for developing countries due to the destructive impact of the growing industrialization. These problems in many cases can be tackled by novel technologies based on the development of nano-structured materials that can be fully characterized due to the remarkable properties of synchrotron radiation. This two-week School is addressed to young motivated scientists with a Ph.D., or at least several years of research activity. It will offer a balanced program composed by lectures, tutorials and practical hands-on training sessions at different Elettra beamlines including the newly developed XRF beamline and the IAEA multipurpose endstation. MEDSI 2014 will showcase international leading-edge developments in design and research on high end accelerator engineering and technology. This event is to be hosted by the Australian Synchrotron and held in the dynamic and internationally recognised scientific hub of Melbourne. This course held at ALBA synchrotron covers the applications of X-ray absorption spectroscopy and in particular EXAFS & XANES in environmental sciences, biomaterial sciences, and archaeology, and includes a visit to the CLAESS beamline. The conference will consist of three full days of oral presentations and poster sessions in the heart of the Louvre museum. Seven laboratories from CNRS, ministry of Culture and MNHN (IPANEMA at SOLEIL, C2RMF, LAMS, MNHN Prehistory Department, LAPA, LRMH, CRCC) join with PATRIMA and the Louvre Museum to organize this event. SR2A-2014 is open to all interested professionals, including archaeologists, conservation scientists, conservators, geochemists and material scientists, researchers with experience utilising large-scale research facilities and other analytical techniques, curators, cultural heritage managers, art historians, students, potential users of synchrotrons, etc. The Louvre venue is intended to provide an unprecedented opportunity for professionals from Europe and worldwide to meet and share their expertise and experience. The 3rd International Henry Moseley X-Ray Science Summer School will be held at Koç University, Istanbul. The summer school aims to train young researchers in the principles and applications of x-ray science including: X-ray diffraction, powder, texture and residual stress analysis; protein and molecular crystallography; x-ray absorption and x-ray fluorescence spectroscopy, trace elemental analysis; x-ray imaging and tomography; nuclear resonance scattering; x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy; ultrafast applications in the nano and femto regimes. X-ray Photon Correlation Spectroscopy (XPCS) and related techniques have become established tools to study the dynamic properties of matter on microsecond as well as 1000 of seconds timescales. XPCS makes use of the coherent properties of modern X-ray sources and has been applied to a wide range of scientific questions, including dynamics in soft matter systems, surface dynamics, and slow processes in hard condensed matter. X-ray free-electron laser sources offer new opportunities to extend the methods to processes in the femtosecond to picosecond regime. The DESY Research Course shall provide an introduction to all fields of XPCS research and related techniques, and discuss the possibilities of XPCS at modern synchrotron and free-electron laser sources. The course addresses master and PhD students, young research fellows, as well as interested scientists. This one-month course is designed to provide training for students, postdoctoral and senior scientists from European and non-European universities and laboratories, in the field of Neutron and Synchrotron Radiation for condensed matter studies (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Materials Science, Geosciences, Industrial applications). It includes lectures, practicals and tutorials, visits of Large Facilities and a poster session (each participant puts up a poster about her/his thesis or research topic for a day). The course is held in Grenoble at the Polygone Scientifique Louis Néel, close to the Institut Laue-Langevin (ILL), the European Synchrotron Radiation Facility (ESRF), the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) and the Institut de Biologie Structurale (IBS). Applications are accepted from students enrolled in a doctoral programme of a European university, and postdoctoral and senior scientists from European public and industrial laboratories; the course is also open to non-European doctoral students and postdoctoral scientists. Beam Instrumentation and RF Workshop Tehran, Iran 8-10 March 2014 ILSF will be holding a three-day international workshop on RF and beam instrumentation. This school is a continuation of the series of schools started six years ago (2006 in Japan, 2007 in Italy, 2008 in the U.S., 2009 in China, 2010 in Switzerland, 2011 in the U.S. and 2012 in India). Based on the needs from the high-energy physics community, the Linear Collider Collaboration (LCC) and ICFA Beam Dynamics Panel will organize an Eighth International Accelerator School for Linear Colliders. The focus of the school will be on TeV-scale linear colliders including the International Linear Collider (ILC), the Compact Linear Collider (CLIC) and other advanced colliders. The target students are graduate students, postdoctoral fellows and junior researchers from around the world. The Abdus Salam International Center for Theoretical Physics (ICTP) in cooperation with iThemba Labs, National Research Foundation (SA) Cape Town Campus, Stellenbosch, South Africa is organizing an Advanced School on Synchrotron Radiation Techniques and Nanotechnology. Topics will include: macromolecular crystallography, single-particle electron microscopy, small-angle X-ray scattering, computational biology, nano-biophysics, high-resolution atomic force microscopy, nano-mechanics and tissue engineering. As a rule, travel and subsistence expenses of the participants should be borne by their home institutions. Very limited funds are available for partial support of some participants who are nationals of developing countries, and who are not more than 45 years old. There is no registration fee. The capabilities of X-ray Free Electron Lasers (XFELs) are rapidly developing and attracting the interests of an ever increasing number of scientists from many fields such as physics, chemistry, biology or materials science. XFELs have many unique features which require scientists, particularly young scientists, to be informed about. The school and symposium are organized within the framework of a French GDRI-XFEL initiative and will take place in Dinard at the Manoir de la Vicomte near Rennes and Saint-Malo. The International Biology and Synchrotron Radiation (BSR) meetings are held every three years with the aim of presenting and discussing state of the art applications in relevant research fields.They have a long-standing record since the first meeting in Frascati, Italy in 1986. August 31st is Qazvin's day. On this day in 1546 Shah Tahmasp chose Qazvin as his capital. Several centuries has passed since then, and Qazvin has played a role in several important events in the history of Iran. It has also become a major cultural center, and more recently, an important center for the Iraninan industry. The construction of the Iranian Light Source Facility in Qazvin, will soon make it an important scientific center.

طـرح چشمـه‌ی نـور ایـران از سـاعـت ۹ صبــح سه‌شـنبه ۸ اسفنـد تا سـاعــت ۱ همـان روز، کـارگــاه یــک‌روزه‌ئی در زمـینـه‌ی بـلـورنگــاری پروتئین‌ها برگزار می‌کند. مباحث کارگاه عبارت خــواهند بــود از رویــاندن بلــور و داده‌گیـــری، ساختــاریــابی، مـــدل‌سازی و تصــحیح مدل. مباحث به زبان انگلیسی ارائه خواهد شد.
